You got to start somewhere…..

Hello world! My name is Roger Bower and I am the Pastor of St. Andrew’s Church in Valparaiso, Indiana. To be honest, I feel like I coming late to the social media party. But, I’m here! While serving as Pastor of this northwest Indiana church, I have come to realize that the technology of the internet gives the church the unique ability to share the hope of Jesus Christ with the world. So, over the past 6 months, our church has invested time and resources to reinvent our website, to create a vibrant Facebook page, to initiate “Tweeting” messages of current events, as well as to develop this blog site.

My goal for this site is that it speak to 2 areas about which I am most passionate. First, this site will share insightful reflections and practical resources for people like you and me who are trying to live out the gospel in our homes, at work, at school, and in our neighborhoods. I will post thoughts on how our relationship with Jesus impacts real life issues such as family relationships, parenting, culture, and our environment. Secondly, this site will be a place of conversation among church leaders to strategize how we can develop vibrant communities of faith. To be sure, I am not the expert. But I am passionate about “best practices” and I want to envision new ways, new paradigms of true Chrisitan community.

So, thank you for visiting this site! Echoing the words of St. Paul, I pray that “the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which He has called us, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe” (Ephesians 1:18).
